Maslenitsa

In church books, the last week before the start of Lent was called cheese week. At this time, one could eat fish, butter, milk, eggs, and cheese. This week was called Maslenitsa. The holiday was cheerful, daring - one of the most beloved among the people, as they say:

Not life, but Maslenitsa.

Like Maslenitsa for a cat.

People called Maslenitsa fair and broad. It was celebrated in villages and cities, and the celebration was considered obligatory; it was not without reason that they used to say: “Even if you pledge yourself, celebrate Maslenitsa.” The whole people took part in it - both adults and children.

In the old days, I opened the holiday for children:

“Are you my soul, Maslenitsa,

quail bones, your paper body,

your sugary lips, your sweet speech.

Come visit me in the wide yard

ride the roller coaster, roll around in the pancakes, amuse your heart!”

After that, the guys shouted: “Maslenitsa has arrived! I’ve arrived!” And the fun began.

Each day of Maslenitsa week had its own special name:

Monday

Meeting (guest Monday)

Mountain skiing (opened by the best spinners); preparing a stuffed animal.

Tuesday

Arrangement of fun, carousels.

Wednesday

Sons-in-law visiting their mothers-in-law for pancakes.

Thursday

Revelry, Break (Broad Thursday)

Ritual fist fights.

Friday

Mother-in-law's evenings

Mothers-in-law are visiting their sons-in-law.

Saturday

Sister-in-law's get-togethers

Taking the snowy town.

Sunday

Farewell to Maslenitsa, Forgiveness Sunday

Conspiracy on Lent; visiting cemeteries; burning of effigies, bonfires; forgiveness in the family circle.

In Maslenitsa rituals and customs, the main place was given to newlyweds. One of the Maslenitsa rituals was visits of young spouses to their parents. The newlyweds certainly visited their wife’s parents, hence the expression “to go to their mother-in-law for pancakes.” Both mountain skiing and triple skiing were mandatory for newlyweds.

We celebrated Maslenitsa with pancakes, which were once called “suns”. They were placed on high places, calling on Maslenitsa to roll in pancakes. They also sang songs:

Annual Maslenitsa,

Our dear guest!

She doesn't come to us on foot,

Everyone comes on horseback.

All sorts of entertainment, dressing up, and skating began in earnest. On Wednesday, the mother-in-law invited her son-in-law for pancakes and gathered other guests. She tried in every possible way to please her son-in-law with pancakes, cottage cheese, and pancakes.

On Broad Thursday, Maslenitsa revelry began.

On Maslenitsa Friday, sons-in-law treated their mothers-in-law, who were invited the day before with great honor.

On Maslenitsa Saturday, a young wife invited her relatives “to her sister-in-law’s get-togethers.”

On the last day of Maslenitsa - Forgiveness Sunday - we went to give gifts to godfather and godfather, brought them gingerbread cookies and pieces of soap, and went to everyone for forgiveness. On this day, “no fire is lit at home, no candles are lit, young people, having collected various combustible materials - firewood, straw, barrels, baskets, etc. - burn it all and jump over the fire as if to cleanse themselves from Maslenitsa.

Goodbye, Maslenitsa,

Mockingbird.

Tyr, Tyr monastery!

You lie down, lie down, old woman,

On aspen wood,

Three logs in the heads.

Auntie, don't be stingy,

Girls and young men are invited to play in the mountains in the morning. Here one could find a bride and steal a glance at her betrothed. But the main thing is to ride as far down the mountain as possible. Because skiing on Maslenitsa is not simple, but magical. The further you ride, the longer the flax will grow in the coming summer.

The Maslenitsa doll passed through the village for the last time. A large crowd of mummers followed her, everyone was joking, singing songs, and dancing. They made a fire of straw in the field and burned a doll with songs. Then the girls and boys jumped over the fire. It was believed that this way they were cleared of the winter darkness. In the evening, relatives and friends met. We asked for forgiveness for intentional and accidental offenses this year. They kissed each other and bowed low. And these bows and prayers were not humiliating. It was important to obtain forgiveness and establish or restore close and cordial relationships. After all, friendship and love in the world -

It's a turning point.

Maslenitsa is a turning point. Farewell to winter and welcome to spring. Farewell to the old. And joyful anticipation of something new. In the life of nature and in the life of people. For this it is important for everyone to be together. That’s why old people are so revered at Maslenitsa. And the newlyweds feel so joyful in every home. All nations have spring commemoration of relatives. Here is the Saturday before Maslenitsa - parents' day. And only then - broad joy to the whole world:

The hot sun means bonfires and burning wheels on high pillars. Burn, shine, heat up!

Housewives - good luck in your cooking. So that the pancakes would dance in the pot of dough, begging to be put into the frying pans, and then into your mouth!

For children, girls and young people - a long ride from high mountains. And long songs. For long linens, for silk.

Boys, young men, men - great fun.

For old people - gingerbread with patterns and a low petition.

However, Maslen doesn’t get it forever. But when the young have fun and the old have respect, then there is order in the world.

However, Maslen doesn’t get it forever. But when the young have fun and the old have respect, then there is order in the world.

How is Maslenitsa celebrated?

The holiday begins with the obligatory invocation of Spring. From this day on, Monday, they bake pancakes and pancakes (from the word Lada), invite neighbors to them, and also offer them cheese and butter. They eat a lot. The pancake is rolled into a tube and dipped in heated cow butter, and then quickly into the mouth so that the fat does not drip off. The first pancake is placed on the dormer window for the souls of the parents.

In some places in Belarus, Maslenitsa Thursday was called Volos. On this day they ate pork and beef. On this day the souls of ancestors also come.

In the last century, during the revelry of Maslenitsa, they drank, overeat and indulged in passions. They organized games - fist fights, troika rides, sleigh rides from the mountains. The guys met girls and traveled from the mountains in pairs. They made a snow town on the ice with gates, towers and an ice hole in the middle. The “servants of Morena” sat in the town, frightened the horses with shouts and branches, and did not allow the horsemen, the “servants of Spring and the Sun,” to destroy it. They tried to push the first person to break into the town into the hole. After the game everyone drank wine. In the evening they burned an effigy of Winter (Maslenitsa). They burned the snow with fires, warming the Earth, thereby bringing the warm time closer. Around the fires they sang carol songs - grapevines.

According to one branch of tradition, Maslenitsa should have a face, according to another it does not.

When Maslenitsa burns, it can be scary, especially if it’s not for long more than a person and done convincingly, with facial features. To relieve the tension that arises and return the action to the general flow of the holiday, the words of the farewell are playful and ironic in nature. This irony is a cover; it fulfills the task of correctly orienting consciousness to perceive the sacred action, which should be perceived not as the horror of the death of Maslenitsa in the fire, but as a natural phenomenon of the cycle of events of Nature, as its departure to heaven. In this sense, the burning of Maslenitsa is a rite of overcoming the power of Death - a cleansing rite. The more alive the burning of Maslenitsa seems, the more convincing the ritual. The cleansing that occurs in the psyche upon completion of the ritual is immediately felt. This cleansing is required for life to begin again, for the acceptance of spring.

It happened that on Maslenitsa people died from drunkenness, gluttony, or fighting. Little attention was paid to this - apparently he didn’t know how to live, so he died.

They celebrated Maslenitsa in its symbolic form - they drove a sleigh on twelve horses, on which a wooden pole was installed. On a pole there is a wheel with scraps of colored fabric and bells, on the wheel there is a man - a joker with damask and rolls. There are buffoons around the sleigh. They said about this procession that on the last day of farewell, Maslenitsa becomes visible.

After that, they washed in the bathhouse, went to visit each other, asked each other for forgiveness for their offenses, kissed, and made up. We went to the cemetery to say goodbye to the dead, who celebrated Maslenitsa with the living. The remains of the Maslenitsa feast were distributed to the poor.

The rite of forgiveness in some villages went like this: The owner sat in the red corner. All the inhabitants of the house approached him in order of seniority and asked for forgiveness with the words: “Forgive me, dear father, if I have sinned against you in any way, in deed or language.” After this, the dad got up and walked to the middle of the hut, low to the ground, bowed to the family and asked for forgiveness for an unkind word or deed.

Celebration traditions

According to popular belief, Maslenitsa is the most fun, very noisy and popular holiday. Each day of this week has its own name, which indicates what needs to be done on that day. Of course, today it is very difficult to observe all the customs and rituals of the holiday, because today Maslenitsa week is not a weekend, but a regular working week. But it will be interesting to learn about traditions and rituals. Maslenitsa, as a rule, means not only pancakes at home, at a party, in a tavern, and right on the street. On Maslenitsa, the first duty of every person was to help drive away winter and awaken nature from sleep. This is what all Maslenitsa traditions are aimed at.

In some places in Russia, for example, the appropriate meeting for people and the necessary holding of Maslenitsa was taken care of in advance from Saturday of the previous week, on which they began to celebrate the “Little Maslenka”. It happened like this: the guys ran around the village in small groups and collected bast shoes, then greeted those returning with purchases from the city or from the market with the question: “Are you bringing Maslenitsa?” Whoever answered: “No” was beaten with these bast shoes.

On the Sunday before Maslenitsa, according to the tradition of those times, they paid visits to relatives, friends, neighbors, and also invited guests. Because in Maslenitsa week it was forbidden to eat meat, the last Sunday before Maslenitsa, so they called it “meat Sunday,” on which the father-in-law went to call his son-in-law to “finish the meat.”

Monday - this is a “meeting” of the holiday. On this day, ice slides were set up and rolled out. According to legends, it was believed that the further the sled or sleigh rolls, the louder the noise and laughter over the ice slide, the much better the harvest will be and the longer the flax will grow. And in order for plants to grow better, according to legend, you need to swing on a swing, and the higher, the better for many.

Tuesday - this is the “play” that begins funny Games, and for fun and joy, they traditionally treat you to pancakes.

Wednesday - this is a well-known “gourmet”. The name of this day speaks for itself. On Wednesday, housewives follow the proverb: “What’s in the oven is on the table!” In the first place among the many treats, of course, are pancakes.

Thursday - this is the day to “go wild”. On this day, to help the sun drive away winter, people traditionally organize horseback riding “in the sun” - that is, clockwise around the village. The main men's business on Thursday is the defense or capture of a snowy town.

Friday - these are “mother-in-law evenings”, when the son-in-law goes “to his mother-in-law for pancakes”, and the mother-in-law, of course, welcomes the son-in-law and treats him to pancakes.

Saturday - the well-known “sister-in-law get-togethers.” On this day they go to visit all their relatives and treat themselves to pancakes.

Sunday - this is the final “forgiveness day”, when they ask forgiveness from relatives and friends for insults and after that, as a rule, they sing and dance merrily, thereby seeing off the wide Maslenitsa.

Thus, the Pancake week passed. The people at all times, as best they could, tried to celebrate it more fun, more satisfying, and richer. It was believed that if you celebrate Maslenitsa this way, then the whole coming year will be just as prosperous and well-fed. And according to legend, they danced on Maslenitsa, jumping high so that flax and hemp would grow just as high. All baptized Rus' at this time, with sincere simplicity, indulged in all kinds of fun, which were repeated from year to year, practically unchanged. There was also a belief that not to have fun during Maslenitsa means “to live in bitter misfortune and end your life badly.”

Host: It seems that just recently we met New Year, rejoiced at the Christmas holidays and the Russian winter with its white snows, sleds, games, and severe bitter frosts. But then the bright, cheerful sun appeared, the days became longer, and we understand that spring will soon come.

Winter is losing its strength, can you feel it?

Warm days are coming

It's time to say goodbye to the winter

I'm glad to welcome spring.

Even the ancient Slavs had a multi-day holiday that marked farewell to winter. From distant pagan times, Maslenitsa came to us, honest Maslenitsa, wide Maslenitsa. In Rus' they loved Maslenitsa - a mischievous, cheerful, desperate holiday.

Our annual Maslenitsa,

She's an expensive hotel

She doesn’t come to us on foot,

Everyone rides around on komonyas,

So that the horses are black,

So that the servants are young!

They said about Maslenitsa:

You are our soul Maslenitsa!

Your lips are sugary

Sweet is your speech!

Come and lie in pancakes with us,

Make your heart happy!

Maslenitsa brought the light and joy of the imminent spring. It was expected everywhere with great impatience. The people said: ""At least pawn off yourself, and celebrate Maslenitsa." It was believed that if you celebrate it poorly, you will have to live in bitter need. Maslenitsa is called broad. Why do you think? Maslenitsa was the most fun and riotous holiday. The holiday lasted a whole week of fairs, street games, buffoons, dances, songs. This is why people call it the wide Maslenitsa!

Maslenitsa got its name from the rich and oily food that was supposed to be enjoyed throughout the week. According to popular beliefs, it was necessary to help the sun defeat the evil frosty winter, and the favorite food at Maslenitsa was round, rosy pancakes, piping hot, looking like the face of the sun. Gluttony is the most remarkable feature of the holiday. This should symbolize a well-fed life throughout the year.

We magnify Maslenitsa

And what don’t we promise her:

Rivers of sour cream,

Mountains of pancakes

If only she would come soon

Honest, cheerful, broad noblewoman

Many families start baking pancakes on Monday. Each housewife had her own recipe for making pancakes and kept it secret from her neighbors. Usually the pancakes were baked large, filling the entire frying pan, thin, and light. They were served with various seasonings: sour cream, eggs, caviar, etc. Butter pancake is a symbol of the sun, sunny days, good harvest, healthy people. As the proverb says: “It’s not Maslenitsa without pancakes.” “The pancake is beautiful and hot, like the hot sun that warms everything.”

Competition of proverbs and sayings about pancakes and Maslenitsa

(children are divided into two teams, for each correct answer the team receives a token).

And how many proverbs and sayings people have made about pancakes and Maslenitsa! Now we will check if you know them. Each team receives two sets of cards (Appendix 2). Some are the beginning of a proverb or saying, others are the end. Your task is to connect it all correctly. Whoever completes the task first will win.

Host: We start celebrating Maslenitsa on Monday. They insisted on meeting her. Each day of Maslenitsa has its own name.

Morning... MONDAY... The "MEETING" is coming.

Bright sleds slide down the hills.

All day fun. Evening is coming...

Having skated to their heart's content, they eat all the pancakes.

Monday - “Meeting”, guests were greeted and Maslenitsa too. The guys rolled down the mountains on sleds, shouting: “Maslenitsa has arrived! Maslenitsa has arrived!” The girls brought pancakes up the mountain with them, putting them on their heads while they sang songs about Maslenitsa.

Girls sing the Russian folk song "Pancakes".

Presenter: A figure with a long braid, dressed in a woman’s outfit, was made from rags and straw. In the hands of the figure is a shaving brush and a pancake - symbols of Maslenitsa (children are divided into small subgroups of 4 - 5 people). Children are given sheets of paper with a cross drawn (Appendix 2).

Creative task: using the materials on the table, make a scarecrow of Maslenitsa using the appliqué technique (folk music plays during the practical work). Completed works are hung on a screen, and the most interesting works are analyzed.

There is an old Russian game "Golden Gate", and that's what we'll play.

The game "Golden Gate" is being played.

Half of the participants in the game stand in a circle facing the center, raising their clasped hands up. A chain of other players runs through this “gate,” holding hands. At the same time, they run around each of those standing like a snake.

Those standing say:

The Golden Gate does not always allow entry:

Saying goodbye for the first time

The second one is prohibited

And for the third time

We won't miss you!

At the last phrase they give up. Those who remained inside the circle stand in it, increasing the number of “gates”. Not caught, they restore the chain and run again. Two or three players who are not caught are considered winners. It is forbidden to stop in front of the “gate” for fear of being caught, you cannot unclasp your hands, you cannot lower your hands in advance (close the “gate”).

Here WEDNESDAY comes up - it's called "Gourmet".

Every housewife casts a spell at the stove.

Kulebyaki, cheesecakes - they succeed in everything.

Pies and pancakes - everything is on the table!

Wednesday - "Gourmand", prepared the most delicious dishes and, of course, pancakes. The most important event on this day was the visit of the son-in-law to the mother-in-law, for whom she baked pancakes and arranged a real feast, if the son-in-law was to her liking, of course

Competition "Identify the cereal."

And now I invite representatives from each team of two (possibly 4) girls. It’s your turn to show yourself.

On the table in front of each participant there are bags of cereals: millet, peas, buckwheat, semolina, pearl barley, etc. It is necessary, blindfolded, without untying the bag, to determine which cereal is in each bag. The winners receive prizes

And on THURSDAY - the free “RAZGULAY” comes.

Ice fortresses, snow battles...

Troikas with bells enter the fields.

Guys are looking for girls - their betrothed.

“Run out”, “Fracture” - that’s what they call Thursday.

To help the sun, they rode horses “in the direction of the sun” (clockwise), performing various ritual songs. Guys and girls rode down the hills in sleighs (demonstration of the picture). For this occasion, the sleigh was decorated with colored rags, hung with bells. Painted bows were put on the horses. The guys showed off their prowess, dashingly jumping into the speeding sleigh. The main men's task on this day is the defense and capture of the snowy town. How did it go?

On the river, adults and children built a fortress with towers, walls and gates from snow and ice. A “guard” was placed inside the fortress. Then the horse and foot attacked the fortress: the foot climbed the ice walls, and the horse tried to break through the gate. The fortress guards defended themselves with brooms. After the end of the battle, the winners and the vanquished went to feast together.

And what artist’s painting depicts this ancient Russian ritual? Show the picture. (Answer: V.I. Surikov “The Capture of a Snowy Town.” (Whoever answered correctly gets a prize).

Host: So now I challenge good fellows to battle, so that they measure their strength.

The game is played: "Cockfight".

One representative is selected from each team. A circle is drawn in which two participants stand. You need to hold your left leg with your left hand, and push the opponent out of the circle with your right shoulder.

FRIDAY has arrived - "EVENINGS AT THE MOTHER-IN-LAW"...

Mother-in-law invites son-in-law for pancakes!

Eat it with caviar and salmon, maybe a little simpler,

We ate it with sour cream, honey, and butter.

"Mother-in-law's evening" began on Friday. The sons-in-law invited the mother-in-law for pancakes. The son-in-law's disrespect for this custom was considered dishonor and insult, and was the reason for eternal enmity between him and his mother-in-law."

Well, now I ask you to come to me, one pair from each team. The girl is, accordingly, “mother-in-law”, the boy is “son-in-law”. Let's see how our "mother-in-law" and "son-in-law" live amicably.

The game "Three Legs" is played.

Each pair's legs are tied together - the right leg of one to the left leg of the other. A pair on three legs must run the marked distance. Whoever is first is the winner. Explain to children the concepts of son-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law.

SATURDAY is approaching - "SISTER-IN-LAW'S TREAT".

All the relatives meet and dance in a circle.

The holiday continues, general fun.

A nice farewell to Zimushka!

Saturday - "Sister-in-law's get-togethers." On this day, the young daughter-in-law; invited her husband's relatives to visit her. Most of the attention and honors were given to the newlyweds. Tradition requires that they, dressed up, go out “to people” in painted sleighs, pay visits to everyone who walked at their wedding, and solemnly roll down the mountain accompanied by songs. And for the children, Maslenitsa fun continued: sliding down the slides, playing snowballs, and horseback riding.

Snowball game

Children are divided into 2 teams. Each team receives a bucket of balls (or fabric snowballs). Empty buckets are placed at a short distance from the teams. The task is given to hit a snowball into an empty bucket. The team with the most snowballs is considered the winner. (For each snowball, the team receives a token.)

Bright SUNDAY is coming quickly.

Everyone eases the soul on “FORGIVEN DAY.”

The straw effigy - Zimushka - is burned,

Dressed in a sheepskin coat, felt boots, a belt...

Maslenitsa ended with Sunday - “Forgiveness Day”. Relatives and friends approached each other with “obedience”, asking for forgiveness for grief and insults. The most important thing on this day was the restoration of good, kind relations. On Sunday we tried to finish everything we had cooked during the week. On this day they treated the poor, went to the cemetery, left pancakes on the graves and worshiped the ashes of their relatives."

In the morning, the children collected wood for the fire to burn Maslenitsa.

Elnik, bereznik

Happy Monday!

Is it firewood - Aspen firewood,

Birch firewood! Serve it here

For Maslenitsa, for the burner!

On Sunday, young people in a sleigh with a scarecrow of Maslenitsa rode through the streets until dark, singing and making noise, and late in the evening they drove up to the prepared bonfire. There were always a lot of people gathered around the Maslenitsa bonfire. They said goodbye to Maslenitsa both jokingly and seriously. Throwing straw into the fire, the children diligently repeated: “Maslenitsa, farewell! Come again next year!” We rode down the mountain from dawn to dusk, and today is Sunday. Our fun is over!

Host: But we won’t burn our Maslenitsa, they turned out very beautiful.

I propose to write notes listing the bad deeds that we would like to get rid of and burn them so that our bad deeds go away, fly away with the smoke, and good ones come in their place (children write notes, put them in an envelope).

You can burn notes at any time: after the event, immediately after sealing the envelope.

Farewell, farewell, Maslenitsa, farewell, farewell, broad one!

You came with good things, with intoxicating beer, wine, pancakes, pies, pancakes.

And we spent the entire Maslenitsa, lost our dear one.

They thought she would be seven years old, but she only stayed for seven days!

Host: Like people gathering at our gates. People gather and lead their own round dance. (Children gather in a round dance).

Host: It’s a pity to leave Maslenitsa, but there’s nothing to do. The time has come to see her off. Are we carrying it out?

Children: Let's see it off!!

Host: Well, repeat after me. (Children repeat the words after the leader).

Maslenitsa - torticollis

She fed us well

We rolled around in oil

We stuffed ourselves with pancakes.

In the end she led us through.

Took me into a corner

In the nook Redkin's tail.

Great Lent is ahead.

Maslenitsa, goodbye!

Don't promise to be back!

The road will be a good riddance

Far from our doorstep.

Girls come out to the center of the round dance and sing ditties (Appendix 3).

Host: And now everyone is invited to a tea party. It's time to treat yourself to the traditional Maslenitsa dish of pancakes.

The fair crowns the magnificent festivities.

Goodbye, Maslenitsa, come again!

In a year we will meet Beauty again.

Let's celebrate again and serve pancakes

All participants and guests leave for tea.

While drinking tea you can ask riddles (Appendix 3)

« Maslenitsa is honest, wide, cheerful» (material for folder)

From ancient times Maslenitsa is the most joyful pre-spring holiday. It is celebrated at the end of winter and celebrated for a whole week. All have fun and rejoice that winter has passed and spring is coming. The celebration took place according to a strictly scheduled order.

Maslenitsa, aka Cheese Week, also called riotous. Because in Rus' these days there is revelry. A holiday is unthinkable without pancakes - they are baked every day. Every day Maslenitsa has its own name.

Monday – Meeting (meet Maslenitsa, her stuffed animal is carried through the streets, placed near houses). Children go out in the morning to build snow mountains, lamenting: “Called, called honest Semik wide Maslenitsa to visit you in the yard..." After this meeting, the children run away from the mountains and shouting: “I’ve arrived Maslenitsa! Arrived Maslenitsa!” The meeting ends in a fist fight. In some places, children made dolls from straw - Maslenitsa: they put a caftan and a hat on her, girded her with a sash, and put her feet in bast shoes. This doll was brought up the mountain on a sled with a lament for a meeting. I'll meet you Maslenitsa We started by visiting relatives.

Tuesday – Flirting (guys flirt with girls, look for brides). Girls and young men are invited to the tunes in the morning to ride in the mountains and eat pancakes.

Wednesday – Lakomka (mother-in-law treats son-in-law with pancakes). The mocking Russian people composed several songs about the thoughtfulness of a mother-in-law when treating her son-in-law. Dressed up bear plays different farces: “How the mother-in-law baked pancakes for her son-in-law - how the son-in-law said thank you to the mother-in-law.”.

IN wide Thursday the Maslenitsa revelry begins: riding through the streets, various rituals, fist fights.

Friday - Mother-in-law's evening, sons-in-law treat their mothers-in-law to pancakes. Invitations can be honorary, with all relatives, for lunch or just for one dinner. In the old days, the son-in-law was obliged to personally invite his mother-in-law in the evening, and then send smart people in the morning "invited". The more it happened "invited", the more mother-in-law found themselves honors.

Saturday – Sister-in-law’s gatherings. The young daughter-in-law invited her relatives to her sister-in-law's gatherings. The newlywed daughter-in-law was obliged to present her sisters-in-law with gifts.

Resurrection – Farewell Maslenitsa, Forgiveness day. On Forgiveness Day, they go to give gifts to godfather and godfather. In villages, the most honorable gift for the godfather consists of a towel, and for the godfather - a throw of soap. Farewells between relatives take place in the evening. Saying goodbye, we spoke as usual, each other friend: “Forgive me, perhaps I will be guilty of something before you”. Farewells between family members took place after dinner, before bedtime. Here children bowed to their parents at night and asked for forgiveness. On this day a straw effigy is burned Maslenitsa. U Maslenitsa there were always a lot of people gathered around the fire, there was funny, many songs sounded. WITH Maslenitsa said goodbye as a joke, and seriously. Throwing straw into the fire, the children diligently repeated: « Maslenitsa, Goodbye! And come again next year!”
